As many of you are aware I am taking a long trip to Fairbanks, AK. Due to a difficult housing market my family will remain in SC until the spring. I have a long, lonely trip ahead. Don't despair though, because I am accompanied by my ever faithful companion.
For the past three years my Slinky has kept me company in my office. It has always been there to fill any void, help me make many good and bad decisions (I blame all the bad ones on Slinky). I am aware most of you know about Slinky, mainly because all of you have spent time with him. You have to admit he's highly addictive, there on the edge of my desk, calling your name as you come in. Many of you have tried not to pick him up, but all efforts are futile. You soon find yourself slinking him back and forth from one hand to the other.
Since I am making the trip and want to keep family and friends up to date on my journey, I have created this blog for regular posts. I'm sure most of you don't want pictures of me standing in front of different objects (tree, sign, moose, vicious bear, etc.). Slinky has always been attention seeking- as you already know- and "volunteered" to be the focus of my blog.
Last night we all had dinner, cake, and played some games. Slinky is quite the card shark. He even had a few of Steph's tasty adult beverages (he really can't hold his liquor that well because he is hollow).

Once you get north of the 48th parallel, be sure and keep your flap buttoned.
Nice to see you are under way, are you going to stop in the home state as you head north?? Please keep us informed of your progress and your condition. Pat & Lill
Does the D/AK know what they are in for? I would like to see the infamous "YukonBen" beannie hat on Mr. Slinky because cold weather can make metal brittle and I would hate for your companion to fall apart on you when you need him most.
Hey,
Didn't I buy that slinky with JSI funds?
I knew you were leaving but I did not know you were taking Mr. Slinky with you. How I will miss Mr. Slinky in those slow work days. He was always there to help us forget the time by dancing back and forth for us for hours, actually minutes but hours sounds better. Did you remember to get Mr. Slinky's passport before leaving. Would not want him to have to stay in Canada before his true identity could be confirmed. Remember to get a large sock for Mr. Slinky so he will have a place to hide and keep warm. Maybe you could get him a YukonSlinky hat!!!
Later
